We can’t see the soul, only its reflection. Its influence. In ancient Roman mythology, the moon is the spirit of a woman: the goddess Diana, goddess of the hunt, of childbirth, of women generally. Here the moon is merely reflected. The viewer stands on a cliff overlooking the sea, beneath an oak tree, sacred to Diana, and sees only the reflection of the moon. The soul. The soul of a woman, of a mother, of a wife, of a sister, of a daughter. A much loved woman.
