This painting is an homage to Italian Racing Bicycle Manufacturers Edoardo Bianchi and Cino Cinelli. The greenish-blue is the trademarked Bianchi green beloved of bike racers and originally developed by Bianchi in the nineteenth-century--still used today on high-end Bianchi racing bikes. The red is one of seven colors original to Cinelli bikes, and happens to be the color of my own Cinelli racing bike. I imagine here the mid-century (20th) meeting of these two men so important to bike racing history and beloved of racers around the world.
